Gubbi Art Club / Our story

Design by day.
Making room
by heart.

We’re friends, NIFT and NID graduates, and people who believe a good art table always has room for one more.

HOW IT BEGAN

It started with
a little fan.

Small beginnings.
Wide-open possibilities.

Our first workshop centred on a foldable paper fan: making it, painting it, and turning an everyday object into something personal.

That is still the kind of thing we want to build. Approachable enough to begin without a portfolio, open enough for every person at the table to make it their own. We bring our design training down to table height, with no intimidating language and no expectation that you already know what you’re doing.

WHAT WE BELIEVE

Art is not a test.
It’s a way back to yourself.

To your curiosity. To your senses. To the simple pleasure of making something that did not exist three hours ago.

Five things we keep coming back to ↓
BEGIN WHERE YOU ARE

Curiosity is enough.

You don’t need an impressive sketchbook or a hidden talent. Bring a question, a colour you like, or the willingness to try. We’ll help with the first mark.

LEAVE ROOM FOR SURPRISE

The wobble belongs.

A line that wanders can become the best part. We teach techniques as useful tools, not rules for making everyone’s work look the same.

MAKE IT PERSONAL

Yours beats perfect.

The point is not to reproduce an instructor’s piece exactly. It is to leave with something that carries your choices, your attention, and a little of your personality.

NOTICE THE MATERIAL

Hands have their own intelligence.

Paper folds. Clay gives. Paint surprises. Learning to notice a material is part of learning to work with it. We make time for that conversation.

MAKE ROOM FOR PEOPLE

A shared table changes things.

You can come alone and work quietly, or talk while your hands are busy. There is room for both. Connection is an invitation, never a performance.

Less perfect.
More personal.

That is the whole invitation.

GOOD TO KNOW

The small
practical bits.

Your next good afternoon starts here.

Pick something that makes you curious. We’ll bring the art kit, materials, and a little encouragement.
